Add the BFR Status to a Grower/SBI Record

In order to apply BFR benefits to a policy, users must mark the BFR/VFR checkbox on the Maintain Grower page—this page is only accessed from within a policy. Then, users are prompted to provide additional BFR certification and eligibility information.

Search for and locate a policy of the grower whose record you need to add BFR status to.

On the View Grower for Policy page (on the Grower policy tab for Livestock and MPCI policies), click Edit. The Maintain Grower page opens.

Expand the Beginning & Veteran Farmer Rancher Information section, select the BFR/VFR checkbox. The Application Type, Certification Date, Years of Eligibility Remaining (Years of Eligibility for 2015-2025 RYs), Benefits Received Year Count & Premium Subsidy % (values only available for this field in 2026+ RYs), and Processed By AIP fields appear.

From the Application Type dropdown, select "B - Beginning Farmer Rancher.

In the Certification Date field, type the date the BFR status was certified and the application was signed, or click the calendar button to open the calendar and select a date. This can only be edited until Processed by AIP date exists (as shown in step 8). This field is required when the BFR/VFR checkbox is marked.

From the Years of Eligibility Remaining (Years of Eligibility for 2015-2025 RYs) dropdown, select the certified number (1-5 for 2015-2025 RYs or 1-10 for 2026+ RYs) of years of remaining eligibility the individual grower has for BFR. If the policy is not for an individual, this number is the lowest number of years remaining across all applications for the SBIs. This can only be edited until a Processed by AIP date exists (as shown in step 8). This value will be updated on roll to count down 1 year. This field is required when the BFR/VFR checkbox is marked.

For 2026+ RYs only, review the values in the read-only Benefits Received Year Count & Subsidy % field to verify correct.

NOTE: The values in this field come from the P14 and applicable record in the ICE D00192 table that's based on the number of years BFR benefits have been received. If the P14 has not been successfully received back for the policy yet in an RY, these values will display as zeros.

This The Processed by AIP field is only editable for Company users. In the Processed by AIP field, a Company user enters the date the Company approved the BFR status for the grower. When this field is not populated, the coverage is suspended for review.
